Hello, I’m Nariko!
My practice is grounded in intentional creation, cultural exploration, and sustainable design. I love using bold, high-contrast visuals to emphasize key messages and connect with my audience. Graphic design has become a tool for both expression and self-discovery, and I’m excited to keep evolving in both my craft and my identity.
Much of my work is inspired by Japanese culture and my experiences traveling there. I'm especially interested in learning more as a way to connect with and honor my late grandmother. I always aim to design with environmental consciousness in mind. Coming from a background in painting and fine arts, my love for bold color and experimentation naturally finds its way into my design process. I also enjoy illustrating and creating custom type—especially when I can blend those elements in playful or unexpected ways.
I specialize in design, illustration, print, typography, and have also explored motion design. Through bold color and expressive type, I strive to create compelling visuals that raise awareness of important social and environmental issues.
While at Rutgers University–Camden, I collaborated with department heads to produce promotional materials for the Visual, Media, and Performing Arts Department, focusing heavily on print production.
I’m proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, print production, branding, custom typography, client communication, design revisions, and prepping files for print. I bring thoughtfulness, precision, and attention to detail to everything I do. Outside of design, I enjoy traveling, reading, painting, gardening, discovering new music, and finding inspiration in the everyday.
